Built to scale. Validated to grow.

Heap Digital is a small software company. We look for problems worth solving, research them until most of them fail, then engineer the few survivors and run them for years.

How an idea becomes a product here

One route, run the same way every time. It is deliberately hostile early on: the point is to spend research on ideas rather than years on the wrong one.
  1. 01

    Scout

We collect problems, not ideas. Most come from industries still run on paper, texts and spreadsheets, where the software either doesn't exist or nobody can afford it.

  2. 02

    Research

Each candidate gets a written brief: who has the problem, what it costs them, what they pay today, and who has already tried to fix it. Most candidates die here, on the page, with the reasons recorded.

  3. 03

    Validate

Before any real build spend, the survivors have to prove demand outside our own heads - conversations with operators, signups, pre-orders. Opinions don't count.

  4. 04

    Build

A small, sharp first version of the one workflow that matters, shipped early to the people who asked for it, then improved with them rather than in a planning document.

  5. 05

    Run

Anything that earns its keep gets maintained for years. The misses stay small and get shut down honestly instead of being left to rot.

The right tool for each product

A back office that lives inside a business all day and a page someone reads once are not the same problem, so they don't get the same answer. What stays fixed is the size of the list.
Laravel Back ends with real business rules behind them
Next.js Product interfaces that have to feel immediate
Astro Content and marketing, shipped as static files
Serverless Runs on request, costs nothing while idle
Stripe Subscriptions, invoices and payouts
Cloudflare R2 File and document storage

Boring on purpose. Everything here is mature, widely known and cheap to run, which means a product can be handed to someone else without a rewrite, and keeping one alive for years stays cheap enough that it never has to turn into something else to survive.

Where we're working now

Every one of these industries is small, still runs on paper, texts and spreadsheets, and is too small to interest the companies that could otherwise afford to serve it.
  • Event Management

Event crews and the people coordinating them

  • Regulated professions

Practitioners and the firms accountable for them

  • Hospitality

Solutions for venues and event spaces

  • Property management

Landlords and the people managing their properties

  • Healthcare

    Solutions for clinics, hospitals, practitioners

  • Education

    Schools, universities, and their administrators

  • Government

Departments, agencies, and the people running them

Products are announced on their own names, when they open to customers - not before. Until then the industry is the only thing worth saying.

Get in touch

If your business runs on paper, texts and spreadsheets because nothing on the market fits, that's the kind of problem we go looking for. Describe it in a couple of sentences - it's how most of our products start. Partnerships and press are welcome on the same address.
